What makes money so collectible?
It was back in 1690 when the Massachusetts Bay Colony issued the first paper money. Since that time paper money has changed significantly. It has always been very interesting to me how certain items become so collectible. Paper Money is one of those items that have become a passion for many collectors. It has been over 300 years since the first Paper Money was produced and now more than ever there is a huge selection for collectors to choose from. Colonial Notes Continental Currency State Bank Notes Demand Notes Gold Certificates National Bank Notes Silver Certificates AND MORE... Even the categories listed above can be broken down into many sub-categories putting collectors in a frenzy to find what they are looking for the most. Collectors look for many different things when starting or adding to a collection. Some currency may be rare because the number of them available has decreased so much that finding one is a treasure. Some are special because of where they were produced and some are very rare because of errors. Some have different color seals on them such as blue, brown and red. One unique item is called a Funny Back because the back of the note looks like play money. There are also different size notes and certificates. Small and Large Silver Certificates are physically different in size. Whatever the case may be, collectors love to collect Paper Money, and the interest of collecting grows and grows each year. The values always seem to increase as well. People may collect a particular item such as Silver Certificates for an investment, or to keep and pass down to future generations. One thing is for certain, there will always be different types of collectibles, but Paper Money will always be one of the most sought after collectors item. www.SilverCertificateStore.com |
